John T. Petters Foundation Announces 2008 Scholars

March 20, 2008 Minnetonka, MN - The John T. Petters Foundation announced today the 2008 scholarship recipients. Twenty-seven scholarships were given out to students from twenty-three different schools across the country. This group of students will be traveling this spring and summer. The scholarship amounts varied from $2,000-$8,000.

The John T. Petters Foundation was established in March 2004 after Miami University junior John Thomas Petters was killed while on spring break in Florence, Italy. John was a dynamic young man who loved to travel the world and had a keen business mind as cofounder and president of the Miami Investment Club. Before John passed he expressed an interest in helping college students get more from their education which is why his life will forever be celebrated through scholarships awarded to passionate students like him to study abroad. The Foundation works to endow the leaders of tomorrow with an opportunity to advance their educational experience at home and abroad for ongoing knowledge.

John T. Petters Foundation Announces 2007 Scholars

April 30, 2007 Minnetonka, MN- The John T. Petters Foundation announced today the 2007 scholarship recipients.

Samantha Erickson, a College of Saint Benedict student from St. Paul, MN, is studying business administration with a French minor. She will be studying international business and French in the fall at Le College International de Cannes, France.

Belinda Fleming, a senior marketing major at Miami University of Ohio, will be studying Spanish and business in Spain this summer. Belinda is from Colleyville, Texas.

Justin Geyser, a sophomore finance and business management major at Miami University of Ohio, will be studying business this summer in China and Taiwan. Justin is from Grafton, Ohio.

Alex Hamel is a student at the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, MN majoring in International Business and Spanish. She is from Apple Valley, MN and is going to study business and volunteering in England in the fall.

Cecile Harper is a junior international business major, Spanish and communication minor at Rollins College in Winter park Florida. She is from Kissimmee, Florida and will be studying in Spain this summer.

Wideline Jean is a sophomore international business major and education minor at Rollins College. She is from Miami, Florida and will be studying in Spain this summer.

C. Paige Kamke, a College of Saint Benedict accounting major, management minor is from Maple Grove, MN. She will be studying business and German at the University of Salzburg Austria in the fall semester.

Emily Karnas from Rochester, MN is a College Saint Benedict student majoring in political science focused on international affairs and economics. She will be traveling to Salzburg, Austria in the fall.

Levi Lowell is a Saint John’s University student majoring in business from Stillwater, MN. Levi will be studying Art & Architecture in London over the spring semester of 2008.

Cory Mortenson is a St. John’s University business management major and Spanish minor from Coon Rapids, MN. In the spring of 2008 he will be traveling to Spain to study the language, culture, and government.

Katherine Rzepecki attends the University of Saint Thomas majoring in international business and marketing management. She is from Maple Grove, MN and is currently attending the CIEE Business and Society Program in Seville, Spain.

Victoria Sherb, a sophomore marketing major at Miami University of Ohio from Youngstown, Ohio. Victoria will be traveling abroad for the first time and as she studies in France and England this summer.

Andrew Stepper is a student at St. Cloud State University from Oregon, Wisconsin. He is an International Business major who will be studying in China this summer.

Amber Volkenant is an organizational management major at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She is from Hutchinson, MN and will be studying international business in Bulgaria over the summer.

Bao Yang is a student at the University of MN-Duluth where she majors in organizational management and human resources. She is from Minneapolis and will be traveling to Bulgaria this May to study international business.

Scholarship recipients receive on average $5,000 to study international business for a summer or semester. The foundation’s vision is to support a more educated generation whose eyes are open to the world around them. For more information on the John T.
